CHANCELLOR's Message

It is, indeed, a matter of happiness that Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan (BPSMV), created to empower women through education, is going to have an upgraded university website, which will make all relevant information available to all stakeholders in a transparent manner. The illustrious history of the university in fact represents the salient phase of women’s education in India. One wonders, a Girls’ Gurukul, started with just three girls way back in 1936, has turned into a modern university with approximately 7000 girls on its rolls, a great transformative journey traversed by BPSMV. While paying my tribute to the revered founders of the erstwhile Gurukul and today’s BPSMV, Bhagat Phool Singh Ji and Padma Shri Subhashini Devi Ji, I feel delighted to acknowledge that the legacy of women’s education enunciated in pre-Vedic and Vedic times gets revived and strengthened with the establishment of BPSMV. The university being the rare model of tradition-modernity interface and the unique example of society- university interface echoes the spirit of new National Education Policy- 2020. The key characteristics of NEP- 2020 such as KG to PG, focus on Indian languages, multidisciplinary, and value education have in fact been the character of BPSMV since its inception in 2006. Having known the fact that women are the catalyst of societal change, BPSMV has the potential to be the instrument of societal growth by furthering women’s education. The University has initiated several steps to be in the league of premier women universities of the world. The learners being in the centre, the University is committed to fostering critical thinking and other life skills in its students. I expect the University to go the extra mile in empowering girl students from weaker sections of society such as OBCs and SCs. I am glad that BPSMV administration led by Vice Chancellor Prof Sudesh is sincerely putting in the best efforts to evolve itself as an eminent modern women university while retaining its core values imbibed through Gurukul Parampara. I call upon students, parents, staff and local society to come together and help BPSMV in realizing its core objectives in letter and spirit. My best wishes!

HIS EXCELLENCY SHRI BANDARU DATTATRAYA, GOVERNOR, HARYANA
